Class Action Lawsuit Against GlaxoSmithKline
The Lincare Class Action Lawsuit is a lawsuit which has been filed against GlaxoSmithKline. GlaxoSmithKline is a company that manufactures cleansers, anti-aging products and other skin care products. They are currently being investigated for charging their customers with having used their products without their knowledge. The investigation is part of the authorities’ efforts to crack down on corporate fraud.
The suit is based on the Federal False Claims Act, along with State False Claims Laws.
The lawsuit targets three specific products GlaxoSmithKline has manufactured: Persa scent, Sensicle and Citrus FX. Each of these products contain different levels of sodium laureth sulphate, also known as sodium lauryl sulphate. This chemical is used as a detergent to clean and soften the skin, and has been linked to many health problems over the years.
The Class Action Lawsuit was brought forward by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) in the US.
The lawsuit claims that GlaxoSmithKline did not list the dangerous ingredients it used in their skincare products on their labels, which is a violation of the Fair Trading Act. GlaxoSmithKline also has agreed to provide refunds to consumers who purchased any of the said lincare products within the past twelve months, if the person is still feeling discomfort or discomforts after using the product. Furthermore, GlaxoSmithKline will no longer sell any of its skincare products containing sodium lauryl sulphate.
